Hana Vymazalová se zabývá vývojem staroegyptského hospodářství a zaměřuje se především na účetní dokumenty zdoby 5. dynastie a hospodářství královských zádušních komplexů ve Staré říši. Věnuje se rovněž matematice starověkého Egypta, jejímu vývoji a praktickému využití v písařské praxi. Ve spolupráci s Institut français d’archéologie orientale du Caire se podílí na projektu paleografie starohieratických textů ze 3. tis. př. Kr. Od roku 2006 se účastní archeologických výzkumů v Abúsíru v Egyptě a rovněž přednáší studentům egyptologie. Je členem The International Association of Egyptologists (IAE).
